Caracas imitation cob fantasy date 2 Reales (142), Caracas mint, KMC13.1, XF45 NGC. A superior example of this very scarce type, rarely seen above VF. The oversized dies are most evident on this bold and well struck example, struck perhaps 40% on the cross side. It should bring a premium over typical specimens of this (fantasy) date based on its grade and its pedigree: Rosenman plates this same specimen in his recent reference (figure 6, p. 23 with the caption "dies were larger than blanks").
