Ferdinand VII 2 Reales 1819/8-BS, Caracas mint, KMC6.1, Stohr-11-C6 (var. b), MS64 NGC. 1,450,000 pieces minted per Stohr. Other than a small non-distractive scratch near the lower "2" on the reverse, this coin is as close as a perfect coin for this type as can be imagined. Truly a gem, showing a gorgeous toning with steel and bluish hues, with an incredibly defined strike, and with both central dots immaculate. The latter are among the higher points in the design and the cataloguer has never seen (apart from this and the following lot) coins were they are free of rubbing evidence. Naturally, the overdate appears at first glance, and one can see the two distinct punches of the "9" applied over the previous "8". One could write long praising commentaries on the condition of this coin, but the pictures and assigned grade truly say it all. The lucky owner will acquire a true treasure in this popular series. The finest seen of this date by a mile and among the two finest known for the type.
Estimate: 7500-10000 USD
