MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1802-Mo FT. Mexico City Mint. Charles IV. NGC EF Details-Obverse Scratched.
KM-109; FC-90a; Yonaka-M8-102; Cal-975. This moderately worn and very attractive example exhibits even wear and displays beautiful rich cabinet patina. The fields display a reddish-purple coloration that transitions to a lovely slate gray patina with a slight iridescent sheen with underlying luster in the protected areas. Close inspection reveals a couple faint thin scratches on the obverse, long since toned over matching the rest of the coin. Despite its shortcomings, this lovely looking piece offers plenty of detail with fantastic patina.

It is interesting to point out that obverse die appears to be near the end of its usefulness. A major crack is noticed beginning at the edge above the "R" of "GRATIA" through the fields, then through the lower neck of the bust and hair ribbon finally terminating between the "L" and "U" of "CAROLUS".

Estimate: $70 - $100
