MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Do RL. Durango Mint. NGC EF Details--Cleaned.
HOH-F4/L12; KM-376.6; DP-Do01. Large Libertad-Staggard rays and Folded Snake, small diameter planchet. Variety with superscript "s" of Granos and end stop close to "G". The fold of snake is large and rounded with upper joint of right wing near "B" of "REPUBLICA". Evenly struck, this moderately worn example exhibits a full cap with complete Libertad, detailed eagle's breast, and bold legends. Close inspection reveals areas of brightness indicative of a past cleaning, now slightly subdued with areas of tone and richer coloration amongst the devices.
