MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Do RL. Durango Mint. NGC EF-45.
HOH-N5/L9; KM-376.4; DP-Do01. Large Libertad-Even ray and Submissive Snake. Variety with both superscript "s" rotated slightly right and a wide gap between primary rays and denticles. Snake's head is right of leftmost inner acorn while snake's body before eagle's beak is slightly wavy. This nicely preserved and wholesome looking example displays a light gray coloration with richer patination amongst the devices and plenty of remaining luster in the protected areas. The devices are bold, including a full cap with complete "Libertad" and strong legends. Signs of moderate even wear are primarily confined to the high points and exposed areas with a pale golden coloration atop the devices. This handsome example presents a pleasing appearance.
