MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Go JM. Guanajuato Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned.
HOH-GO11/GR11; KM-A376.1; DP-Go01. HOH numbering appears out of order because both dies were discovered after the original publication of "Hookneck" in 1997. Variety with double punched star. Superscript "s" of Granos touches ray. Head of snake points to inside vertical leg of "R". Boldly struck with well-formed intricate design features, this example exhibits a full cap with "Libertad" and complete legends. Remnants of planchet adjustments somewhat obscure the details of the eagle's breast. Close inspection reveals evidence of a past cleaning, now slightly subdued by light tone.
