MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Mo JM. Mexico City Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned.
HOH-MO9/MR9A; KM-A376.2; DP-Mo02. Variety with both superscript "s" just above the stops, tip of ray touches superscript "s" at end of legend. Head of snake aligns with center of vertical leg of the "R", missing body segment between snake and eagle's beak. This decently preserved example boasts a strong strike with bold design features and even wear. The cap is full with complete "Libertad", complete legends and plenty of fine details of the devices. Close inspection reveals evidence of a past cleaning, now slightly subdued by a thin layer of light mottled tone. To view all items from the Richard Elliot Collection click
