MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Mo JM. Mexico City Mint. NGC AU Details--Cleaned.
HOH-MO9A/MR9; KM-A376.2; DP-Mo02. Variety with superscript "s" of Dineros is set low and is above the stop. Superscript "s" of Granos is set low between "G" and stop. Head of snake is low pointing to the left most leaf of the wreath, well below rhe "R" of "Republica". Top tip of eagle's tail aligns with the second leg of the "A". Boldly struck with well-defined design features, this nicely preserved example exhibits a full cap with complete "Libertad", full legends on both sides and decently detailed eagle's breast. The surfaces in the exposed fields display a faint golden gray color with richer patination in the protected areas. Close inspection reveals evidence of a past cleaning, now slightly subdued.
