MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Mo JM. Mexico City Mint. NGC AU-50.
HOH-MO11A/MR11A; KM-A376.2; DP-Mo02. Variety with superscript "s" of Dineros set high. Superscript "s" of Granos is set high over the "G". Denomination and mintmark are re-punched. Head of snake points to the outside edge of the vertical leg of the "R", tip of eagle's tail is below the end stop of the legend. This lightly displays mottled gray patina with areas of richer coloration on both sides with areas of minor earthen deposits. A bit soft in the centers, but the peripheries are bold and clear, with much remaining luster in the protected areas. A pleasant example of the type with a decent look.
