MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Mo JM. Mexico City Mint. NGC AU-55.
HOH-MO19/MR19; KM-A376.2; DP-Mo02. Variety with superscript "s" of Dineros is set above the "D" and to the left of stop while the superscript "s" of Granos is even with the top of the "G" and between the "G" and stop. Head of snake points to vertical leg of the "R". Snake's body is uneven in width at the right of the loop in the snake's tail. This attractive example displays a light gray tone with a richer coloration amongst the devices and plenty remaining luster. The cap is nearly complete with partial Libertad and bold full legends on both sides. The surfaces are relatively smooth with light signs of wear primarily confined to the high points and exposed areas. Wholesome and pleasing to the eye, this attractive Almost Uncirculated example offers much originality. To view all items from the Richard Elliot Collection click
