MEXICO. "Hookneck" 8 Reales, 1824-Mo JM. Mexico City Mint. NGC AU-55.
HOH-MO UNLISTED/MR UNLISTED; KM-A376.2; DP-Mo02. Variety with superscript "s" of Dineros set high above "D" and between "D" and stop with superscript "s" of Granos set just above "G". Head of snake points to vertical leg of "R". Top tip of the eagle's tail aligns with final stop. This bright and lustrous example, struck with worn dies, exhibits a strong strike with well-formed devices. The centers are soft struck, as is commonly encountered on this series, though many diagnostics are clear. Signs of handling are primarily contained to the high points and exposed areas with little in the way of actual wear. The surfaces are smooth with much remaining luster.
