MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1862-C CE. Culiacan Mint. NGC MS-61.
KM-377.3; DP-Cn19. This visually interesting example exhibits bright flashy lustrous surfaces with bold devices and a hint of tone. The planchet exhibits numerous lamination streaks on both sides. A handsome example of this SCARCE date.

It is interesting to note that the second to last digit of the date appears to be an unlisted overdate as "6/5". The most prominent area is on the inside of the "6" where the downward stroke connects with the inner tip of the curl. This is of particular interest in that the die style changed in 1858. However, further in-depth research and comparison is needed to confirm the attribution of the overdate.

Estimate: $200 - $400
