MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III (the Great), 336-323 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (16.96 gms), Babylon Mint, ca. 325-323 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 1/5. Fine Style, Brushed.
HGC-3.1, 910Q; Pr-3674. Lifetime issue; struck under Stamenes or Archon. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left; astragalos and M in left field, monogram below throne. Fully deserving of its Fine Style designation, this Tetradrachm exhibits a striking portrait of Herakles in high relief along with a well-executed reverse. Light cleaning marks on the fields are visible under magnification, but this well-centered remains impressive due to its quality of production.
