HGC-3.2, 1568; Pr-1077. Struck in the name and types of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; in inner left field, helmet above MA; KO below throne. Struck on the typical broad flan, this Mesambrian issue is impressively well-preserved. The sharply detailed strike on both sides is surrounded by an abundance of original luster that underlies the subtle toning.
