HGC-4, 1597; Kroll-8. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent to left; all within incuse square. A well-struck and attractive example of the iconic Athenian "Owl" Tetradrachm. Both sides are nicely centered on the flan, displaying bold detail without much circulation wear. The surfaces offer rich cabinet toning with some underlying luster in the fields that gives the coin an elegant appearance. This problem-free and entirely wholesome piece serves as an excellent representative of the type.
