CAPPADOCIA. Ariobarzanes I, 95-62 B.C. AR Drachm, Mint A (Eusebia-Mazaka). NGC Ch F.
cf. HGC-7, 846. Obverse: Diademed head of Ariobarzanes I facing right; Reverse: Athena standing facing left, extending Nike and holding spear and shield. While the date is off-flan, this Drachm features a strikingly veristic portrait of the Cappadocian ruler. The surfaces display a nice light tone. A pleasing example despite having clearly spent some time in circulation.
Estimate: $60 - $100
