Obverse: Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis around neck; Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt; to left, ΠT (mint) monogram above ME monogram; to right, AΛ (date) above Θ. Beautifully toned to a deep charcoal gray with hints of lilac around the devices. A well-struck example, this piece features a strong portrait of the Ptolemaic kingdom's founder on the obverse along with a sharp mintmark and date on the reverse. Subtle indentations on the edges indicate it may have once been mounted on a bezel, but the coin has lost none of its eye appeal as a result.
