PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy IV Philopator, 221-205 B.C. AE Triobol (35.60 gms), Alexandreia Mint, ca. 219-205/4 B.C. NGC EF★, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.
Svor-993 (Ptolemy III); SNG Cop-212; CPE-B510. Obverse: Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon right; Reverse: Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; filleted cornucopia to left, ΣE monogram between legs. This hefty bronze piece is unusually well-produced for the type, displaying a crisp portrait of Zeus in fine style. The surfaces are free from any damage or corrosion and display a deep brown patina with a slight verdant glow around the devices. An uncommonly attractive example of this popular Ptolemaic issue.
