ROMAN REPUBLIC. AR Denarius Brockage, Rome Mint, 42 B.C. NGC Ch VF. Banker's Mark, Brockage.
Cr-494/23; S-492; Syd-1117. Obverse: Laureate head of Apollo right; lyre to left; Reverse: incuse of obverse type. A charming example of this mint error struck during the tumultuous Imperatorial period. Beautifully toned and lustrous, the obverse is quite attractive despite its off-center strike and a banker's mark on Apollo's cheek. The reverse displays the brockage prominently, giving a unique incuse view of the obverse design. An interesting ancient error with great eye appeal and originality.
Estimate: $250 - $400
