DIOCLETIAN, A.D. 284-305. AR Argenteus (3.04 gms), Antioch Mint, ca. A.D. 294-5. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5.
RIC-32; RSC-491C. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Tetrarchs sacrificing over tripod before campgate with four turrets. This SCARCE silver issue displays a handsome portrait of Diocletian and an interesting reverse type. While a flan crack is present at about 11 o'clock, this is typical for the issue. An overall appealing example with mottled charcoal toning.
