ALLECTUS, A.D. 293-296. AE Double-Denarius (Antoninianus), London Mint. NGC EF.
RIC-35. Obverse: Radiate and cuirassed bust right; Reverse: Providentia standing left, holding baton and cornucopia; S-A across fields; ML in exergue. A delightfully well-produced example of this Romano-British issue. Both sides are well-struck in competent style, yielding a pleasing portrait of the usurper Allectus. The surfaces exhibit deep green patina without much in the way of corrosion or roughness.
Estimate: $100 - $200
