Obverse: Michael standing facing, holding labarum and akakia, between Constantius and Andronicus, each holding globus cruciger and akakia; dotted exergual band below; Reverse: Christ standing facing on footstool, crowning Romanus and Eudocia, each holding globus cruciger. This interesting type features the portraits of Romanus along with his wife and her three children. The noted scratches are minor and confined to the empty margins, allowing the complex central devices to showcase their intricate detail without distraction. A handsome piece in pleasing state of preservation, this coin was struck just before Romanus' disastrous defeat by the Seljuk Turks at Manzikert.
