MANUEL I, 1143-1180. AV Hyperpyron (4.13 gms), Constantinople Mint, 1152-1160. NGC Ch AU, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 3/5. Die Shift, Edge Bend.
S-1956. Obverse: Bust of Christ facing; Reverse: Manuel standing facing, wearing crown, holding labarum and patriarchal globus cruciger; to upper right, manus dei. Despite the somewhat botched obverse strike resulting from die shift, this scyphate piece displays remarkably clean golden surfaces and impressive reverse details. A well-preserved piece from the last of the three great Komnenoi emperors.
