KM-240; LMDB-442. Issued by decree of 1 September 1808 until 4 April 1810. Countermark: Bifacial denominated arms of the Portugal. Applied to a 1774-PTS JR Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles III. A lovely example of the popular countermark applied to a somewhat earlier undertype, this piece yields rich luster and strong details on both the countermark and understruck. The noted cleaning is light and does not detract too much from the beauty of the example. A piece deserved of many excited bids.
