BRAZIL. Brazil - Bolivia. Minas Gerais. 960 Reis, ND (1808). Serro Frio Mint. Joao as Prince Regent. NGC VF Details--Surface Hairlines.
KM-242; LDMB-P450; Gomes-JR.115.02. Issued by decree of 1 September 1808 until 4 April 1810. Countermark: Bifacial denominated arms of the Portugal. Applied to a 1802-PTS PP Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV) (KM-72). An appealing example of this popular countermarked issue with azure, pastel blue, emerald, and russet hues glistening in the luster of the punch. Though the host coin is worn and shows vague signs of a rub, the countermark itself is wholly attractive and enjoyable to examine.
From the Alfonso Sito Garcia collection. EX: Jesus Cacho collection.
Estimate: $300 - $500
