COSTA RICA. Escudo, ND (1857). San Jose Mint. PCGS AU-50.
Fr-4A; KM-84. Type VII bifacial countermark: Lion advancing left, with legend around. Applied to an 1848-CR JB Costa Rica (Central American Republic) 1 Escudo (KM-14). Seemingly a bit conservatively graded, this golden-yellow specimen yields a subtle tone and some weakness unto the countermark, but with great detail remaining upon the host coin.
Estimate: $600 - $900
