GUATEMALA. 8 Reales, 1754-G J. Guatemala Mint; Assayer Jose de Leon y Losa (J). Ferdinand VI. NGC EF Details--Holed.
KM-18; Cal-286. Variety with Spanish "5" in date. A RARE and popular Guatemalan crown, the present example is the first we can recall offering for the date. Thickly toned graphite surfaces show some friction, but ample detail remains in the design elements. A small hole has been punched through at 12 o'clock on the obverse, with some disturbed metal and a pin-sized shaft appearing on the reverse. Though impaired, specialists will likely be pleased with this once-in-a-blue-moon offering.
From the Alfonso Sito Garcia collection. EX: Jesus Cacho collection.
Estimate: $200 - $400
