GUATEMALA. 4 Reales, 1759-G P. Guatemala Mint. Ferdinand VI. NGC EF Details--Obverse Damage.
KM-17.1; Cal-361; Gil-G-4-7. A miniscule divot directly above the left pillar accounts for the designation, an absolute trifle when compared to the overall attractiveness and originality of this piece. Magenta gray surfaces flash with sapphire iridescence, still bright and fresh looking despite some wear on the high points. The strike is better than can be expected for the tough issuance, with detail in the pillars and globes nearly full. For reference, consider a PCGS VF-35 piece we sold as part of the Pat Johnson Collection in August 2022 for $2,160. In many ways, the present coin offers more detail and innate appeal. A typical case where specialists must remember to buy the coin and not the holder.
From the Alfonso Sito Garcia collection. EX: Jesus Cacho collection.
Estimate: $700 - $1000
