PERU. 2 Reales, 1801-LIMA IJ. Lima Mint. Charles IV. PCGS Genuine--Chopmark, Fine Details.
KM-95; Cal-584. A circulated but charming silver minor with an unusual chopmark. While chopmarks are typically incuse, the one on this coin is in low relief. Additionally, it was struck with an opposing die, producing a distinct cross-shaped stamp along with some fairly obvious die shift on the reverse. The host coin is nicely toned and offers clear peripheral legends. A rather individual piece that should interest specialists.
Estimate: $100 - $200
