BELGIUM. International Exposition Bronze Award Medal, 1897. CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.
By Jules Lagae for Wolfers Frères. 70mm. Engraved and awarded to Albert Bourdin of Maison Stockman Frères of Paris. Obverse: Allegories of Industry (left) and Agriculture (right) being embraced by Belgium standing in the center, perimeter legend above; Reverse: Two lions salient supporting crowned Belgian Arms, banderole below, engraved inscription in lower field; perimeter legend. The Exposition was held at what is now the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, the site of a number of expositions from 1880 through 1930. Bourdin was one of fifteen bronze medal recipients in the category of "clothing accessories". An attractive specimen with glossy bronze surfaces.
