Obverse: Bust of Marianne as Ceres facing left, perimeter legend at left and right; Reverse: Wreath formed of agricultural, horticultural, and mechanical elements, inset central field with legend and inscription, escutcheon with inscription below. Gray is a small town in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of eastern France. In 1878, the Agricultural Show of Gray instituted an agricultural teaching competition in rural schools, as well as a competition for students ages 11 to 16.
