FRANCE. Second International Exposition at the Paris Palais Royal Gilt Bronze Medal, 1901. UNCIRCULATED.
Edited by A. Massonet. 57mm. Obverse: Female allegory of French Industry, standing facing left, with hammer in left hand and anvil behind, reaching outwards with right hand toward agricultural products offered by a cherub at left; cornucopia at right, sunrise in background at right, anepigraphic; Reverse: Arms of Paris with Mural Crown above, surrounded by mixed oak and laurel wreath, blank escutcheon below, perimeter legend. Paris hosted the Universal Exposition in 1900, and this medal purports to be for a similarly-titled event in Paris the following year. A perplexing medal worthy of further research.
