GREAT BRITAIN. Great Britain - Bolivia. Dollar (4 Shillings 9 Pence), ND (1797). George III. PCGS Genuine--Damage, Fine Details; Countermark: EF Details.
S-3765A; KM-626. Authorized 9 March 1797. Countermark: Bank of England Type I; Raised bust of George III within oval indent. Applied to the obverse of a 1794-PTS PR Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (KM-73.1). While this host coin was heavily circulated, its British countermark appears fresh and sharp in contrast. The surfaces are mostly smooth from wear, though all the coin's details remain clear. The damage noted by PCGS can be seen on the reverse by the mintmark, though it appears more like an artifact of the coin's production rather than post-mint damage. Overall, an example that preserves much charm.
Estimate: $200 - $300
