GREAT BRITAIN. Great Britain - Mexico. Dollar (4 Shillings 9 Pence), ND (1797). George III. PCGS AU-50; Countermark: AU Details.
S-3765A; KM-634. Authorized 9 March 1797. Countermark: Bank of England Type I; Raised bust of George III within oval indent. Applied to the obverse of a 1797-Mo FM Mexico bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV) (KM-109). An impressively well-preserved example of this countermark issue. The host retains lovely originality and luster on its lightly toned surfaces. Due to its bold strike and lack of wear, the countermark displays pleasingly crisp detail on the miniature bust of the British monarch. A stately representative of the type that offers an abundance of eye appeal.
