Obverse: Sir Arthur Wellesly (later Duke of Wellington), seated facing left, in Roman attire, outside of his tent, reviewing a scroll, legend in exergue below; Reverse: Tagus River god reclining on a spilling urn; tree at left, English tents in the background, legend in exergue below. Number 17 in Mudie's National Series of Medals. Wellington ordered the construction of a line of forts to protect Lisbon against the French; these allowed the Anglo-Portuguese defenders to repulse a French offensive in late 1810 until the French retreated in March 1811.
