GREAT BRITAIN. Battle of the Pyrenees Bronze Medal, "1813" (1820). CHOICE UNCIRCULATED.
BHM-760; Eimer- 1034. By Nicholas Guy Antoine Brenet. 41mm. Obverse: Bust of the Duke of Wellington facing right, perimeter legend; Reverse: British lion attacking French eagle at left in rocky, mountainous terrain, perimeter legend above and legend in exergue below. Number 23 in Mudie's National Series of Medals. Wellington checked a brief French offensive in the Pyrenees in late July 1813, forcing the war onto French territory. A beautiful, glossy chocolate brown example with lovely blue toning on the reverse. Slight pitting is noted in the obverse die. To view all items from the PHG Collection click here.
