GREAT BRITAIN. "The Kings and Queens of England" Composite Set of Bronze and Silver Medals (37 Pieces), ND (ca. 1731 - 1773). Grade Range: EXTREMELY FINE to UNCIRCULATED.
An iconic set of medals by the Genevese engraver Jean Dassier. Originally executed in 1731-2, the medals were also re-issued around 1755 and then again around 1773. This lot is comprised of three groups of related medals: 1) Thirty-four (34) Bronze medals from William the Conqueror through George II. This group lacks the original dedicatory medal to George II, but does include the later memorial issue (ca. 1760) made after the King's death. This group accounts for all of the English sovereigns, including Queen Caroline, though it does include individual pieces from the various releases of the series. Examination of the medals is recommended. 2) One (1) bronze duplicate of William the Conqueror. 3) Two (2) cast silver copies (Henry IV and Edward IV). To view all items from the PHG Collection click
