Obverse: Angel flying overhead to right clutching laurel wreath, looking down on the three representatives of Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden taking the Oath of the Rütli, date (1307) below; small scenes of the battles of Morgarten (left) and Sempach (right); Reverse: Swiss Arms at the top center, nineteen Arms of the Cantons of the Swiss Confederation around the remaining perimeter, with the associated date of their joining along the rim; Arms of the original three Cantons are shown in the central field, inner perimeter legend citing the Federal Charter of 1291 and the 600th anniversary celebration in Schwyz.
