Obverse: France, seated at left, facing right, with palm branch, partially-clad youth standing, looking right, holding flag; rifleman in mid-ground holding rifle and used shooting target; rifle range and landscape in the background at right; legend in exergue below; Reverse: Laurel wreath interwoven with four rifles, two pistols at the bow, and target above, blank central field. Cornucopia privy mark. A popular and conveniently generic obverse that was paired with many other shooting contest reverses. An unawarded medal never pressed into service for any event.
