FRANCE. FFTV French Combat Pistol Championship Silver Award Medal, ND (1939). Paris Mint. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
By Édouard Fraisse and Charles Degeorge. 50mm. Obverse: Bust of Marianne, left, with winged helmet; laurel leaves fill the fields; Reverse: A "wreath" of shooting weapons - rifles, pistols, and crossbows, superimposed on (and largely covering) a laurel wreath; round escutcheon in the center, engraved with the event name and year. Cornucopia privy mark. An example of the use of a die (or product of a die) long after its creation - Charles Degeorge passed away in 1888 and this medal was inscribed in 1939.
