Obverse: Plumed helmet above the society's arms, flanked by Arms of Switzerland and Basel-Stadt; perimeter legend; Reverse: Bust of Basilea facing left; anepigraphic. The society was founded in 1466 for guarding and defense purposes and still exists today. An attractive specimen of a dark argent patina with liberal amounts of subtle blue and russet toning.
