SWITZERLAND. Mass Chorale Performance at the Swiss Confederation Shooting Festival in Geneva Bronze Medal, 1887. NGC MS-65 Brown.
R-631c; Martin-335. By Antoine Bovy, Geneva. 37mm. Obverse: Mixed oak and laurel wreath enclosing four-line legend; perimeter legend; Reverse: Arms of Geneva with "IHS" in sunburst above, perimeter legend below. Choirs and choral society competitions were ubiquitous in 19th century Europe. Eight companies competed in the communal eating area of the event space. A magnificent high grade example of this ancillary event at the shooting festival; an even, rich mahogany color on glossy surfaces make this an attractive specimen indeed.
