SWITZERLAND. Nidwalden Cantonal Shooting Festival in Ennetmoos Silver Medal, 1898. PCGS SPECIMEN-63.
R-1029b; Martin-878. By Eduard Zimmermann, Ennetbürgen. 45mm. Obverse: Arms of Nidwalden in a cartouche with floral sprigs, perimeter legend; Reverse: Defiant armed soldier facing right, woman attending to fallen comrade at right; city view in background, Swiss cross above, perimeter legend. A somewhat unusual depiction of the realities encountered in defending the homeland. An attractive example of the type with subtle blue toning interspersed with traces of champagne and russet. Listed as "Rare" in Richter. Note that the "R-1029c" designation on the holder is in error; R-1029b is the correct designation for a silver specimen in the most recent edition of Richter.
