Obverse: Arms of St. Gallen and Flawil superimposed on a sprig of fir at lower left, Swiss cross with emanating rays at upper right; perimeter legend; Reverse: Soldier with shouldered arms advancing left, landscape in the background. An attractive medal with uniform argent gray toning. listed as "Rare" in Richter. Note that the "R-1189b" designation on the holder is inconsistent with the most current edition of Richter; R-1189a is now the correct designation for a silver specimen.
