Obverse: Arms of Monthey and Valais at left, superimposed on a floral sprig, mountains and cityscape in the background; date above, legend in exergue below; Reverse: Bust of youth with headscarf looking left, tendrils of grapevine at left and right; anepigraphic. This early 20th century piece creatively balances the design elements in a pleasing fashion without relying on symmetry or the anchoring elements to the geometric center of the medal.
