SWITZERLAND. Swiss Confederation Shooting Festival in Lausanne White Metal Medal, 1876 PCGS Specimen-62.
R-1562d; Martin-922. By Edouard Durussel, Bern. 46mm. Obverse: Arms of Vaud in the center, superimposed on crossed rifles and a mixed oak and laurel wreath, legend immediately above and below; Arms of the (then) 22 Cantons of Switzerland around the perimeter; Reverse: Helvetia, seated, facing three-quarters right, young man with rifle at right, standing and facing left, pointing toward the city of Lausanne in the background; perimeter legend above, date in exergue below. A very attractively designed medal with frosted devices and reflective fields, albeit with light handling marks in the soft metal on the fields. Note that the "R-1562c" designation on the holder is inconsistent with the most current edition of Richter; R-1562d is now the correct designation for a white metal specimen.
