[T]IBEPI[OY KAICAPOC], Lituus, countermark of branch flanked by CΠ in circle / L IZ (date) within wreath. Hendin 1342; cf. for c/m: Hendin 1343d (year 18). Green patina under heavy earthen encrustation. From The Dr. Patrick Tan CollectionHendin (p. 322-3) notes that this rare countermark may have been applied by the Cohors II Italica, the 'Italian Cohort' of soldiers that likely carried out the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, between AD 31/2 and 41.
