Costa Rica
Token Collection & Accumulation 525 Pieces, Cecil Webster assembled this group of tokens based on a casual attribution to his favorite coin collecting country, Costa Rica. Most are likely from the various fincas and businesses throughout that nation but a few are from other nearby countries. The group is unsorted as Cecil was aware that CR might have issued up to 2000 different tokens and he figured that he would not organize these until he got over a thousand, a feat he never achieved. This lot does contain most of the various metals commonly employed locally, many different shapes and sizes, and many motifs whether attractive or mundane. We would guess that about 200 different issues are included but it might be more despite the presence of many duplicates, usually limited to just a few of any one issue. There are none of the "specimen" or "flashy" issues present nor any uncirculated pieces except the few common hoard types. Overall this lot does cover much of the terrain and offer a broad sampler that might enable a new collector to get a sense of the series. We believe there are some scarce earlier issues, likely 1860's and 1870's. Quality is quite typical, mostly well used.  Sold as is, NO Return.

Estimate: 2000-4000 USD
