Hiberno-Norse. Phase III (c.1035-60) Penny ND, Uncertain mint, S-6132, DF-24, MS63 NGC. Blundered legend, draped bust left, a pelleted bar beneath the chin / Blundered legend, long voided cross with triple crescent ends, a hand symbol in the second and third quarters. Although well-preserved and lustrous with iridescent overtones, this example is poorly struck even by the standards of Phase III coinage. The die work appears to be adequate for this issue, but the double-striking around the rims has left the blundered but usually legible legends unreadable.
