Republic silver Proclamation Medal 1838, Cuzco mint, Fonrobert-9235, AU55 NGC. Little actual wear and attractive toning in the fields. Struck in Cuzco in 1838 and honoring Marshal Andres de Santa Cruz, this 8 Reales-sized medal reads: "Cuzco to the Undefeated Protector of the Confederation". In fact, such a title would not last for long since Santa Cruz was defeated less than a year later, in January 20, 1839 at the Battle of Yungay. A scarce historical item from the short-lived Confederacion of Peru and Bolivia.
Estimate: 400-600 USD
